It’s safe to say that I did not get all of my quilting finished by Christmas. In fact, I’ve still got several projects still in progress. Fortunately, I did finish all of the ones that absolutely had to be completed: the baby quilt & the gift for my great aunt.
This week, I’m finishing piecing a top for my Dad. He’s an aviation aficionado and when I found this fabric online I knew it would be perfect for him.
I had most of this done before Christmas, but ran out of time when it came to cutting the rest of the long blue strips. Thankfully, I don’t expect this project to take more than 1/2 a day to finish…especially when I’ve got such a faithful helper
.
This brings the to-sew list up to:
- 1 finished top waiting to be quilted
- 1 quilt top nearing completion (the one featured in this post)
- 2 quilts waiting to be cut

Today I’m linking up at freshly pieced and showcasing a few of my “Works in Progress.” I’m also posting my quilting updates under #quiltinprogress on Twitter and Instagram.

Hooray for Helper Cats! I do love that aviation fabric, too – my husband is a pilot and aviation mechanic. Where did you find it?

Hey Pam, I’m so glad you asked – I totally meant to link to the fabric source! I’ll go back and edit it, but just in case: I originally found it at etsy.com but the seller has since opened her own stand-alone website for fabric. You can find several aviation themed fabrics on her site, here: http://www.xogigifabrics.com/results.php?keywords=plane&Submit=Search
I love that fabric! What a lovely gift

Hi Emily! Love the fabric in the quilt. Looks like it will suit your Dad! My husband just retired from the Air Force. I know he would love it! Thanks for sharing! Hope you get it all done by 2014
