(I’m joining Lisa-Jo and her Five Minute Fridays. Rules are: for only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. Won’t you join us?)

~start~

It’s a new year with new, or maybe not so new, rules. I’ve set a few goals, I’ve laid out some steps to take. I dive head first into this passion of writing. And when I do, I also dive into the fears, the doubt, the uncertainty. I struggle to swim with the words that threaten to drown me. I fight against the tide and the current that battle my spirit. I am so small – but a single drop in the sea.

And I am reminded of an old hymn and out of nowhere, it comforts me.

Little is much, when God is in it.

Labor not for wealth of fame.

For there’s a prize and you can win it,

If you go in Jesus’ name.

Little is Much. A drop starts a ripple, a ripple forms a wave, a wave moves with fierceness given to it only by God.

So, despite the feeling of being only a drop, of not mattering, of not making a difference, I stand on the edge of my dreams – take a deep breath – and Dive.

~end.

  1. Oh friend, I have felt this too – this feeling of dought and then I read these words this week and today I whisper them for you “Listen to me, all who hope for deliverance— all who seek the Lord! Consider the rock from which you were cut, the quarry from which you were mined.” (Isaiah 51:1). On Christ the solid rock we stand!

  3. Amen! Little is the perfect size in God’s hands. A mustard seed, a few fish and loaves, a small shepherd boy. Thank you for your words. They blessed me tonight.
