Last week, I blogged about my God-Sized Dream of growing this small space. It's a big dream of mine, to cultivate a creative and supportive outlet that replenishes and excites. And in a sense of being fully transparent, I would love to see this space provide some financial support as well. At this point, I'm not sure how I'm going to get there, but that's ok. We're talking God-Sized Dreams here, it's not supposed to be all planned out.

One thing I do know, though, is that unless I start, unless I take that first step, unless I break my big dream into bite-sized pieces, it will stay just that: a big dream.

So, I'm following Holley's sound advice and taking tiny steps and setting smaller goals to act as stepping stones to the greater dream.

I'm signing up for online classes (Like One Little Word by Ali Edwards & I Choose by Elise Cripe) and conferences (have you registered for (in)RL yet? It's FREE this year!). I'm making lists in notebooks, and brainstorming ideas for blog posts & projects. I'm picking up paint brushes, markers, and pencils, and setting aside time to create.

But most importantly, I'm committing to publish a post a day, even on the days I don't feel like writing, even on the days where I'd rather go to sleep than form coherent sentences. Because when I write, I shape my thoughts. I craft them into tangible emotions and ambitions. I force myself to live life, to have my own experiences, to get out from in front of the television and do something.

Sometimes the something is small – like painting my nails, and sometimes the something is bigger, like going to new flea markets with Dad, and sometimes, sometimes the something is huge, like flying 2600+ miles to Ecuador to meet two very special children.

Through writing, I connect with people just like you; through writing, this introvert finds community across the world.

And, at the end of the day, it's these small, tangible steps that will ultimately make the biggest difference.

    • I’m glad it encouraged you :) Breaking my big goals into smaller bites was harder than I expected, but once I took a closer look at the details, the overall picture seems much more manageable.

  2. One step at a time.
    You go girl!!!!

  3. Love how you said this…”Because when I write, I shape my thoughts.” I found myself nodding at your words because I’m the same way. And it seems writing is just as much perspiration as inspiration–cheering you on as you commit to taking this intentional step of writing every day!
