I’ve pretty much run out of quilting steam after my Christmas Gift Rush, mainly because my quilting area is an absolute mess and it stresses me out to look at it. But, I got a burst of energy this week and sorted some of my scraps & put piles of fabric neatly back into bins.

While sorting I came across a pile of roughly 30 6″ 1/2 triangles left over from my triangle lap quilt. The scraps were too cute to disgard, but there weren’t enough to make another full size quilt, or even cut scrappy squares out of. Fortunatly, after playing around with them a bit, I found that they would make a cute doll-sized quilt for either Emily, my Compassion Sponsored Child, or one of my friends’ daughters.

So I laid them out in a haphazard pattern, only stopping to make sure that no two triangles of the same print were touching. I ended up using 24 triangles, mapping out 3 rows of 8. Once arranged, the blocks and rows came together in less than 30 minutes.

Sadly, as with most of my quilting projects, once I got all the seams sewn the quilt top ended up being a lot smaller than I anticipated.

 

I don’t particularly want to add any borders, so I think I may turn it into a pillow for myself instead. I’ve still got to square it up & find some backing fabric… but the longer I look at it, the more I want to keep it with the matching quilt
